Just Food Recruitment is recruiting for an ambitious Distribution professional to join this growing and market leading Food Manufacturer as their Assistant Distribution Manager. Job Purpose: To assist the Supply Chain and Distribution leadership to ensure that all resources are managed and utilised effectively to achieve the required legal compliance, performance results and customer service at all times. To provide a key operational and managerial link between the distribution functions and all external and internal customers. You would be joining a chilled Food Manufacturing environment in which you would ideally have experience in this area already. We are looking for someone with fleet management, warehouse and storage and management experience Role Accountabilities: Fleet management (contracting) – assist the Distribution manager to ensure the fleet meets the ongoing requirements of current and new business (e.g. size of vehicles, vehicles maintenance and minimum legal requirements.) Ensure contracts are kept up to date for both leased vehicles and third-party delivery service providers. Fleet management (compliance) - To ensure that working practices on both the highway and onsite meet the standards set by legal requirements under the prevailing Transport Act and other relevant current legislation, as well as those set out in the group Health and Safety policy. To also ensure that working practices are safe, effective and make best use of the resources – people, vehicles and equipment – available at a given time. Resource & Development – to assist in the recruitment for all roles within the relevant sections of the Supply Chain area. Assists in the training and development of individuals within their teams to enable clear progression and to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels at all times. Performance, improvement and legal compliance -To keep abreast of any changes in working practice and law, and to share this information in a timely way throughout the team. To assist Supply Chain management in ensuring legal compliance and the achievement of agreed KPIs within Distribution. Making sure that as a minimum, legal compliance along with other KPIs are always understood and adhered to by all. To assist in ensuring that systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure and record performance / compliance and action, sanctions and improvements as required. Employee Relations – Support and encourage a positive culture within their areas of control and influence, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management. Performance Management – To appropriately manage the performance of all team members through the use of business performance management systems (i.e. appraisal) and if necessary, to impose disciplinary sanctions in accordance with company policy and good business practice. Quality Standards – To drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within all relevant areas through Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). To ensure that both business and customer standards are maintained at audit ready status at all times. Resource Management – To assist in the management of picking, dispatching, routing and planning of all deliveries to meet customer / company requirements ensuring lead times and deadlines are complied with. To ensure that all relevant regulations are adhered to whilst ensuring agreed targets are met e.g. cost, quality and customer service levels etc. Communication – To assist the Supply Chain management in ensuring that the Distribution teams are kept informed of all relevant changes in their area, the wider company and any legislative changes. To assist in the maintenance of essential communication links across the business and where necessary directly to the customer. Customer Service – To adopt and deliver a complete customer service approach ensuring that customer needs are met to an optimum level at all times. To assist management in building and maintaining good customer relations so that the Distribution team maintain the status of ambassador for the business through professional personal appearance and attitude. 3rd Party – Responsibility for the safe accurate logistics tasks performed at 3rd party premises this should extend to the creation and monitoring of KPI’s.
