The post holder will be working with a team of experienced functional skills tutors to provide excellent development of numeracy skills for learners. You will be required to deliver high quality functional skills tuition, which meets the needs of the individual students, both in line with external requirements and our unique method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education. To undertake this position successfully you will have: at least a Level 5 subject specialism in maths; a teaching qualification such as, Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or above; ability to teach functional skills maths ideally from Pre-entry - Level 1 to Level 2 - including GCSE; knowledge and practice of assessing functional skills and supporting people with Dyscalculia and skill in working with learners with special educational needs and disabilities. Applicants for this role must have experience of working in an education or other public sector environment and possess a high degree of personal resilience and emotional intelligence. Main Duties: To assess, plan and deliver functional skills in numeracy, and where required, GCSE maths to students on an individual or small group basis according to their individual learning needs and requirements. To work alongside tutors and students in craft and practical subjects to embed functional skills. To work as a part of the functional skills team to develop a high-quality functional skills programme within the college. To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement. To deliver the education remit to students as defined by the Assessment Recording Framework. Some cross-site working e.g. at Argent College (Birmingham) may be required from time to time.
