Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: £38,000 – £43,500 per annum dependent on experience

Based in Manchester, we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis. We have a wide variety of prestigious clients on some of the most exciting military and civil aviation training engineering projects around the world. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for undertaking mechanical design activities against the assigned projects in an efficient and effective manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Undertake work in accordance with the design office procedures and design and engineering standards.
2. Maintain design data within the Business computer design systems.
3. Prepare designs for authorisation and approval in accordance with design procedure.
4. Undertake design calculations where required.
5. Assist delivery of the design within the defined project schedule and cost budgets.
6. Conduct design activities with due cognisance of manufacture and operation of products.
7. Identify and manage the production of design documentation e.g., Drawings, Calculations, Bill of Materials.
8. Where required, act as the company’s technical interface to the client for technical liaison matters.
9. Support production of estimates where required.
Key Requirements
1. A relevant engineering/technical qualification.
2. 5+ years design and development experience working in manufacturing (aviation biased preferred but not necessary).
3. Solidworks experience preferred or Autodesk experience, including stress analysis experience.
4. Experience with tooling, particularly JIG tools and 3D printed parts.
5. Experience of composite material design.
6. Experience working with MRP systems, creating Bill of Materials.
7. Experience working with CE/UL compliant products.
8. Basic Catia experience for model opening/exporting advantageous.
9. Experience working with bespoke machinery preferred, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
10. AutoCAD/Draftsight experience (2D layout/concept development for sales queries).
11. Knowledge or previous experience of ASME Y14 advantageous.
Please note, due to the nature of the projects for this role, you must be of UK nationality and meet eligibility for security clearance.
