Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a Clinical Master's Degree to work within the field of Acute Medicine. The Medical Division has an established group of Advanced Clinical Practitioners and there is positive peer support as well as support from the senior Divisional Nursing Team and Consultant body within Acute Medicine. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and drive forward significant changes within Acute Medicine with the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit. We are looking for an innovative and forward thinking team member that will challenge traditional ways of working, and seek to enhance clinical care and deliver an excellent patient experience. You will work alongside the acute medical team and exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgment, discretion and decision-making in clinical care. You will provide advanced clinical skills and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of the client group. The remit of the post is to assess patients with a view to treating them early on their hospital admission to affect discharge from the Acute Medical Unit or AEC unit. You will appropriately identify transfer onwards to a specialty ward should an inpatient stay be appropriate. You will be a non-medical prescriber. Main duties of the job The advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) provides advanced clinical practice as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team within their speciality at the University Hospital of North Midlands. The definition of Advanced Clinical Practice as stated by Health Education England (2017) is " delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master's level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence." The ACP has a trust-wide responsibility to provide clinical excellence through the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.
