Day to Day You’ll Be:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced tax leader that can work in collaboration with leadership from TransUnion’s EMEA business units to redefine the tax function across EMEA. The candidate will be responsible for all EMEA income tax and VAT planning, M&A, controversy and reporting, and strategic tax support. As part of this the successful candidate will be able to review operating models and recommend suggestions to improve/implement process improvements.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Extensive tax experience working in a large public accounting firm and/or large multinational company.
2. Provide dedicated corporate income tax advice, develop international tax strategy and drive implementation of solutions.
3. Advise on all indirect tax aspects of the TransUnion’s EMEA activities, identifying areas where improvements can be made.
4. Advise on the direct and indirect tax aspects of any projects being undertaken by the group such as acquisitions, restructuring, implementation of group wide systems, etc. to ensure effective corporate income tax planning and indirect tax compliance, identify and implement any planning possible.
5. Full accountability for income tax / VAT compliance across EMEA and managing outsider advisors.
6. Work collaboratively with regional EMEA CFO/controllership team and outside auditors to effectively report statutory tax accounts and quarterly and year-end tax provisions.
7. Analyze the tax implications on EMEA M&A deals proposed by management and work collaboratively with the TransUnion corporate development team.
8. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with HMRC and other EMEA tax authorities, relevant members of the business and functional teams, and external service providers / consultants.
9. Review quarterly and year-end EMEA tax provision applying U.S. GAAP rules.
10. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate tax technical items into non-technical terms.
11. Prepare tax technical documentation to support tax positions.
12. Ability to quickly comprehend and integrate business objectives with tax strategies.
13. Report to the global tax head on periodic basis about the status of routine business as usual work and other key developments/initiatives.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
14. Awareness of U.S. income taxation of non-U.S. income a plus (e.g. GILTI, subpart F, etc.).
15. Experience in cross-border intercompany transactions including royalties, financing, and cash repatriation.
16. Knowledge of Pillar Two and GloBE reporting rules.
17. Expertise in tax technology and data automation tools for direct and indirect taxes (e.g. Onesource Tax Provision, Alteryx, UiPath, etc.).
