POST TITLE Teaching Assistant to work in SEN Class
Grade/Hours Grade 6, 7 – 12 to start asap (£19313.34 - £20918.39 actual salary)
32.5 hours per week, term time only
Paston Ridings Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, we expect all our staff to share this commitment.
We are looking to employ a teaching assistant to work under the direction of the SENCO and the class team leader to support children in a class set up to support children with additional needs.
Specific Duties:
Supporting pupils
• Working with children to assist the development of their communication, reading and writing skills, manual dexterity skills, basic educational skills and general curriculum activities, as directed by the teacher.
• Assisting children to communicate with others and to carry out the teacher’s instructions.
• Develop appropriate resources to support pupils and their identified needs.
• Motivate and encourage children, keeping the pupils on task.
• Supporting children with their self-care needs.
• Establishing a supportive relationship with the pupils in the provision.
• Provide feedback to children and relevant staff in relation to their progress.
Supporting SEN Team / SENCO
• Any other duties, related to the role as directed by the SENCO.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

• First Aid qualification
• Makaton Qualification
Experience, Teaching and Learning
• Experience working with children
• Ability to adapt an activity for a child’s individual needs
• Ability to enthuse children about their learning
• Experience of working with children with ASD
Other
• Willingness to assist with other duties (playground duties, trips, etc as they arise)
• Experience of working with children with communication and interaction needs.
