We are delighted to continue partnership with our well-established food manufacturing client based in Avonmouth. They have a presence throughout the UK, successfully producing high-quality products for major supermarkets. Due to their product demand and ability to exceed industry standards, they have become major players in their field.
We are recruiting for a Technical Manager to join their Avonmouth team. The Technical Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of products. This position will oversee all technical aspects of food production, from raw material sourcing to finished product delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, coupled with a passion for ensuring food safety and quality.
Responsibilities of Technical Manager:
* Team Management: Lead and develop a technical team, focusing on their training and development to improve and maintain quality standards.
* Food Safety: Develop and manage comprehensive food safety programs, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and BRC requirements.
* Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality standards for raw materials, ingredients, and finished products. Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to identify and address any issues. Liaise with suppliers regarding quality and technical issues, responding quickly to any inquiries or complaints.
* Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with food safety regulations and ensure that the business is in full compliance. Manage regulatory audits and inspections.
* Technical Support: Provide technical and quality support and training to production staff and the wider team. Promote industry standards and procedures, ensuring quality.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), specifications, and quality records.
* Budget Control: Be commercially astute and cost-conscious throughout the department, without compromising technical standards.
* Product Development: Collaborate with research to support the NPD teams in developing new or improving existing products while ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Minimum of 5 years in a technical position, ideally within the food industry
* Experience working within food manufacturing
* HACCP Level 4 certification
* In-depth knowledge of BRC requirements
* Personable, with strong team management skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Professional and proactive mindset
