The Role:
We are seeking a commercially minded FP&A Lead to spearhead the strategic financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function. Reporting directly to the board, you will drive budgeting, forecasting, and high-level decision-making processes that support business growth and operational efficiency. While a Head of Finance manages day-to-day transactional finance, this role focuses on leveraging financial data to guide strategy, improve profitability, and support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Planning:
Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
Develop and maintain financial models to support commercial decision-making
Provide in-depth analysis of financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities for growth
FP&A Leadership:
Produce and deliver insightful management reports, board packs, and presentations that inform strategic decisions
Oversee financial analysis of new projects, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives
Collaborate closely with operations and commercial teams to align financial goals with business objectives
Commercial Insight & Business Partnering:
Act as a key advisor to the senior leadership team, translating financial data into actionable strategies
Drive operational efficiencies and enhance profitability across service lines
Lead financial risk assessments and scenario planning to support strategic decisions
Year-End & Audit Management:
Manage the external audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors
Work closely with external auditors to ensure smooth and efficient audits, maintaining compliance with statutory regulations
Identify and implement improvements in the year-end process to increase efficiency and accuracy
Oversight of Finance Function:
Provide high-level oversight of the finance team, ensuring robust financial controls and compliance
Support the Head of Finance in maintaining accurate reporting and statutory compliance
Oversee system improvements and streamline processes, particularly across Sage and Movement platforms
About You:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven FP&A experience
Strong commercial acumen, with a track record of driving business strategy through financial insight
Experience within service-based industries is advantageous but not essential
Hands-on experience with Sage and Movement systems is a plus
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Leadership skills with a collaborative, proactive approach
