This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed team and be part of a developing pharmacy service.
This is a varied role in which you will participate in a rota based service, where you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of pharmacy activities including medicines procurement, medicines distribution, medicines delivery, and medicines module packing.
As a Senior Pharmacy Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting training and development of Pharmacy Support Workers within the team.
The service operates a shift pattern of working in which the post holder would participate. There is no requirement for weekend working.
Main duties of the job
To undertake a wide range of dispensing and related duties for patients and to use professional knowledge to ensure that such duties are performed in accordance with Good Distribution Practice. The post holder will support the Pharmacy Operations Manager in the supervision and training of a team of support workers who work within the procurement, packing, and distribution of medicines within the Trust. The post holder will consistently work in an accurate, effective, and efficient manner to support the provision of high-quality service to patients, Trust staff, and stations.
Job responsibilities
* Receive, process, and distribute medicines, including Controlled Drugs (CDs) within the Trust.
* Check returned medicines modules and prepare medicines modules for distribution.
* Maintain compliance to legislative requirements pertaining to medicines including CDs, clinical trials, and unlicensed medicines.
* Maintain receipts and records of medicines procured in accordance with the MHRA regulatory framework.
* Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and escalate for reimbursement where required.
* Co-ordinate deliveries throughout the Trust.
* Perform other medicines related duties including packing and labelling supplies in accordance with the Trust licence(s).
* Rotate stock and coordinate the disposal of surpluses.
* Produce reports from pharmacy computer software for usage and wastage to support the wider medicines team in identifying and implementing strategies to deliver quality and cost-related efficiencies.
* Maintain accurate inventory control.
* Deliver medicines to designated areas within the Trust.
Qualifications and Training
* 4 GCSEs including Math and English grade C or above.
* Obtained or willingness to work towards equivalent of NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent level.
* Full UK driving license.
* Certificate in Medicines Management for Ambulance Trusts.
