An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our busy Endoscopy Team. Experience of working in Endoscopy is desirable but not essential.
The Unit is a modern, well equipped, 7 room, JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit. Our Endoscopy Unit performs in excess of 17,000 procedures per annum across a full range of gastrointestinal and respiratory endoscopy.
The successful candidate will support the Consultant Gastroenterologists, Consultant Surgeons and our team of nurse endoscopists to provide safe care and treatment for patients during their time on the Unit. Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting the endoscopist during endoscopic procedures and caring for patients before, during and after their procedures.
2. Taking responsibility for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of the nursing care for a named caseload of patients.
3. Assisting in creating a therapeutic environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
4. Adhering to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
5. Liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
6. Contributing to promoting a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of care and implementation of change.
7. Participating in audits.
8. Continuously updating own skills and knowledge and maintaining awareness of clinical issues.
9. Acting as shift coordinator in the absence of the Ward/Departmental Manager or their deputy.
10. Acting as a preceptor, Practice Assessor/Supervisor and/or NVQ assessor to junior staff and students.
11. Supervising and leading a team of junior staff.
