Desirable: An interest or prior experience carrying out therapy programmes and experience using specialist equipment such as hoists would be useful. Non-smoker.

Days & Hours: Variety of Bank shifts available, covering Weekends, School holidays and evenings. Typical shift hours: 9.00am to 5.00pm or 10.00am to 7.00pm depending on client’s needs

About this client/child: Callum aged 15 is an active, happy and very social young man. He enjoys adapted sport, swimming, the theatre, socialising and just being out and about. He has cerebral palsy and requires support for all activities of daily living, including personal care and assisting with social and leisure opportunities. Callum independently drives his wheelchair and loves an active lifestyle.
Overview of role: We are looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) / Buddy who can facilitate Callum’s active schedule and assist him with the activities he loves to do. This will include activities away from the family home, some of which Callum will be supported on a 2:1 basis. You will need to be proactive in relation to identifying new activities and experiences for him to do. Whilst prior experience supporting a young person with a physical disability will be useful, full training will be provided, so having the right approach and personality is key! The hourly rate being offered is between £15.50 and £16.50 Gross Per Hour depending on experience.
Who this job would suit: This role will suit someone who is outgoing with a real sense of adventure who is happy to participate in a variety of outdoor activities. Being proactive, upbeat, having an encouraging approach and a good sense of humour will be key. The variety of hours available would be ideal for Teaching Assistants, Nursing/Therapy Students.
