A Vacancy at NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board.
· Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Safeguarding children enabling the delivery of statutory duties laid out in “Working Together to Safeguard children 2023 ” (HM Government, 2018) and the Children’ Act 1989 and 2004. The role is outlined in the Intercollegiate Document Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff 2019. At all times and in relation to the roles and responsibilities listed, work as a member of the safeguarding/child team across the health community.
The post holder will be a member of the wider ICB Safeguarding team including Named GPs for safeguarding (children and adults) and will work closely with the Designated Nurses for Safeguarding Children as well as other key professionals in the delivery of the safeguarding agenda

· Be an experienced clinical practitioner: this may include consultant/ specialty associate specialist/ general practitioners or a senior post with equivalent training and experience with extended knowledge and skills in the care of children and young people.
· Should have experience at Named professional level
· Have undergone higher clinical/professional training in paediatrics and adolescent health;
· Show evidence of Intercollegiate Document (Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff 2019) levels of training and competence at Level 4.
· Have substantial clinical experience in the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and abused children.
· Be clinically active in their field ideally in part of the geographical location covered by the post
· Have proven negotiating and leadership skills.
· Provide leadership and specialist support for learning reviews relating to safeguarding children for serious incidents, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and multi-agency reviews.
· In-depth knowledge of relevant local, regional, national and international policies and implications for practice
· Sound understanding of the legal processes underpinning safeguarding children.
The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.
Location Home based/hybrid working (most of posts).
Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice
New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations
Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.
