Location: St Christophers Hospice, London Contract Type: 22.5 hours per week, across 5 days (FTE 36 hours per week) Fixed Term Contract until March 2027 Salary: £21,748.13 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (FTE £34, 797)

Role Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Research Practitioner or Research Nurse (Band 5) to join our dynamic research team. The primary purpose of this role is to support the research team by maintaining accurate and up-to-date research records across a wide range of studies, assisting with scoping and implementing research activities, and supporting the recruitment, identification, follow up and data collection as relevant. This includes ensuring compliance with St Christophers policies, study protocols, and Good Clinical Practice guidelines, from the setup of studies through to their close-out and archiving.
The successful candidate will work flexibly across different research studies, providing essential research delivery, coordination and administrative support, working with various stakeholders including internal staff, academic partners and external research organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the coordination and management of multiple research projects across various stages
Support the recruitment, identification, and follow-up of eligible study participants.
Maintain and update research records for all studies in the St Christophers research portfolio.
Ensure that all data entries are accurate, complete, and compliant with protocols and Good Clinical Practice.
Collect research data using standardised assessment measures as required.
Work collaboratively with the research team and other staff within St Christophers.
Liaise with external partners, such as the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), Research Delivery Network (RDN), and research teams in other hospices.
Assist in the development of research capacity and capability within the organisation.
Promote a positive image of the research team, St Christophers, and the field of palliative and end-of-life care.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in research support, clinical research coordination, or a similar role.
Understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines and experience working with research protocols.
Excellent organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work flexibly and effectively across different research projects.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
A passion for palliative and end-of-life care, and a commitment to improving research in this field.
A proactive, team-oriented approach to work with the ability to work independently when necessary.
