Our Senior Data Governance Analysts within our Network Intelligence and DSO Development team are key to our journey by using their expertise in Data Governance to inform our Data strategy, processes, policies and principles, ensuring best practice and alignment with industry requirements.
The postholder is responsible for developing and establishing an extensive suite of Data policies, governance and controls which will enable SPEN to operate in a data driven environment, treating data as an asset and ensuring security and interoperability, with key accountability enforced throughout the organisation.
What you'll be doing
* Help establishing the data governance framework to support implementation of our Data Strategy and fostering a culture of treating data as an asset.
* Develop data standards, policies and processes, in line with our Data Best Practice obligations, and advise on how to implement them across SPEN.
* Collaborate with business units to ensure adherence to data governance policies and standards.
* Assist engineering teams to support implementation of the Data Governance platform, Informatica. Develop processes and procedures to maintain content of the data catalogue to profile, discover and categorize data assets.
* Support data owners and stewards in identifying and investigating data quality issues, develop improvement plans and prioritise remediation to ensure data is fit for purpose.
* Embed a strong data management culture within SPEN by advocating Data Governance initiative and proactively identify opportunities to drive business value.
* Support SPEN's Data Governance Forum in coordinating data governance activities.
* Develop expertise and provide advice on industry standards, such as Data Best Practice, Common Interface model, etc.
* Oversee generation, review and use of metrics associated with data governance and data quality, providing insight and information that can be shared with wider management team and Senior Leadership group.
* Contribute to presentations and requests for information responses from internal and external bodies, as well as collating information for regulatory initiatives, such as Price Control Reviews, along with necessary analysis and documentation.
* Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and establish sound and effective working relationships with SPEN staff and management teams in all parts of the business.
What you'll bring
* Proven experience in data governance, data management, data quality or similar role.
* Strong understanding of Data Governance principles and best practices, with prior experience of developing a data catalogue highly desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, with the ability to articulate objectives and delivering projects with multiple milestones.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, including consultation with others in the business lines, resolving differences and presenting a common perspective.
* Proficiency in preparing analysis, reports and presentations for senior management.
* Ability to approach problems systematically and objectively, to analyse facts and evaluate options, draw sound conclusions.
* Effective at managing change in a complex environment and creating a culture of engagement, positivity, agile delivery and focused on outputs.
* Experience in data governance tools, in particular Informatica IDMC, or the ability to quickly develop functional skills with data catalogue products.
* Continual drive to seek innovative ways to make improvements based on current industry trends and best practice.
