We are recruiting for our client in Foston. They design and print flexible packaging for leading food brands as well as non-food packaging for the pet food and medical industries.
Job Title: Machine Operative – Slitting
Reporting to: Conversation Supervisor
Purpose:
A Machine Operative knows how to operate and set up slitting & punch/perforation machines and is responsible for producing finished goods to customer specifications. The role supports operations in manufacturing to ensure that the Company sales and profit targets are achieved and exceeded. The machine operative will work in a constructive manner, promoting co-operation with all site colleagues and always ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies.
The role:
* Maintain all housekeeping standards to ensure care and maintenance of equipment and sustain an organized, clean work environment free from debris and hazards.
* Effectively set up and run slitting, punch and micro perforating machines to customers specification.
* Ensure that all instructions for the safe operation of any equipment is followed and appropriate PPE is worn.
* Carry out pre-inspection and ensure any malfunctions of equipment or difficulties with any job are reported immediately to your director.
* All quality guidelines must be followed accurately, and all specific customer requirements met as instructed. Ensure quality checks and standards are always maintained.
* Cut cores to correct size whilst keeping waste to an absolute minimum. Use knowledge of regular orders to cut cores to sensible combinations.
* Ensure print position and repeat lengths are adhered to. Detect and report defective material or print quality issues immediately to your direct manager.
* Accurately record production data.
* Meet/exceed targeted standards and correct non-conformances.
* Weigh rolls and label as required. Load and unload material working within the guidelines of manual handling and machine operated lifting equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required in accordance with scheduled PPM. Any major PPM inform your direct manager.
* Work safely, following all safety policies and good working practice. Follow all procedures to ensure BRC/FSC requirements are adhered to at all times.
* Perform any reasonable duties requested by supervisor or management.
* Establish/maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with a positive attitude to team work.
* Maintain Health and Safety standards throughout all areas of the business. Ensure to report all Health and Safety concerns, near misses and incidents to your direct manager and assist in the investigation of any such occurrences.
Hours of Work:
* Monday to Friday, rotating 0600-1400, 1400-2200, 2200-0600
* Occasional Saturdays required
