Mountbatten hospice group is a leading provider of palliative and end-of-life care in the UK, supporting 4,000 individuals at any one time, across parts of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We exist to promote and to provide good care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying and bereavement. We are the largest organisation of our kind in the region, with a budget of over £20m and serving a population of over 700,000; and with 200% growth in the number of people we are supporting in the last four years. Fundraising, alongside retail and commercial income covers around two thirds of our annual running costs, with the remainder coming from NHS and other commissioned services. With costs rising and income streams not always guaranteed, effective financial planning and budget management are critical to enabling us to achieve our aims. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant experience of financial management, working at board level and providing organisational expertise and advice on all financial matters. The postholder will have responsibility for all financial budgeting and reporting, analysis and medium-term financial planning. Ideally the candidate will have experience of working within a charity setting with a sound understanding of the regulatory and accounting requirements for this type of organisation. The person will also provide leadership to the Finance Team, supporting their personal growth and development, with oversight of all financial operations, transactions and procedures, ensuring these are done to the highest standards and in a timely fashion.
