Job Description:
The Director of Business Services will provide strategic guidance and information to the Vice President of Workforce Development as well as fellow members of the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA) leadership team, resulting from direct oversight of all financial activities of the organization. The Director will provide leadership in managing change resulting from new trends, opportunities, and/or system changes; develop budgets and financial reports/projections that support core mission goals of CCWA, a partnership in workforce development and credential attainment between J. Sargeant Reynolds and Brightpoint Community Colleges. This position will ensure compliance with the best financial and accounting practices as they relate to all financial activities; coordinate the daily financial and purchasing operations of CCWA with principal business and grants offices at Parham Road, Midlothian, and Chester. This position will also manage the CCWA business team including a full-time Procurement Specialist and a full-time Fiscal Technician.
Special Assignments:
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications:
1. Considerable working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, budget development and tracking, purchasing, and grant management.
2. Considerable knowledge of fiscal and accounting functions and operations; automated financial information systems; database management; and personal computers, using Microsoft Office products.
3. Considerable knowledge of leadership and supervisory principles and practices in order to direct, supervise, and train professional and technical staff in a fiscal environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data in order to provide strategic guidance to leadership.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and federal and state regulations; and, assemble, analyze, and prepare complex financial data and reports, to correlate budget and financial situations with business objectives and needs.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations and all levels of faculty and staff.
Additional Considerations:
Considerable knowledge of state business practices. Coursework and/or specialized training beneficial to the successful performance of essential job duties. Current supervisory experience in a business office environment.
Required Travel:
This position may be asked to conduct business at any college or partner location if needed.
