Job purpose summary:
The Assistant Manager will work closely with and take direction from the branch manager to ensure all areas of the branch are running smoothly and efficiently and take responsibility for the branch in their absence.
Working with the team to ensure a high level of customer service is maintained in all departments. You will support the sales teams by serving on the counter and answering phone calls.
You will be holding staff appraisals, 1 to 1 and welcome back meetings to facilitate the up-skilling and development of the staff, contributing to the reduction of staff absence and poor performance. Your role will involve supporting the branch manager with investigation meetings, and disciplinary and performance management procedures.
You will Support the yard supervisor / department managers by holding regular walk-rounds / catch-up meetings to discuss any impacts and agree priority tasks and review progress on ongoing projects.
You will manage the Breathe HR and Breathe Rota platforms, inputting and amending staff shifts, and entering reasons on Breathe for any late clock-ins, early clock-outs, or deviation from the set shift.
Key responsibilities:
Shared key holder responsibilities to include opening and locking up the branch.
Being on the alarm call out list and attending alarm call outs, as per the company procedure.
Conducting primary HR & H&S processes including:
* Ensuring the branches are suitably staffed and inputting shifts.
* Carry out welcome back meetings.
* Holding absence review meetings.
* Input and manage Breathe HR and Breathe Rotas, making sure they are kept up to date and accurate, including any absences, lateness, missed clock-ins or early clock-outs.
* Conduct staff exit interviews when requested.
* Monitoring the Opus H&S dashboard and working with the manager to keep all staff training compliant and up to date.
Taking direction from the Branch Manager reference the day-to-day staffing and running of the branch, discussing, and agreeing the way forward in all areas of operations and staff.
Giving direction and support to the yard supervisor during your daily walk around the departments, making sure they are running their team efficiently, offering them on-going support.
Oversee all departments to ensure that teams are carrying out their duties in a professional manner and delivering the best customer service possible. Discussing any concerns and impacts with the branch manager.
Supporting and coaching the team to deliver an excellent level of customer service resolving issues quickly and efficiently, seeking advice and support from the branch manager and senior managers as required.
To assist the manager in making sure all health and safety, and company procedures are being followed, and a tidy and safe environment is being maintained, highlighting any concerns or issues to the branch manager.
To support in the recruitment/interview process and any grievance, performance or disciplinary matters as required.
Supporting the branch teams with any administration and banking procedures.
