As our services grow we now need to add to our Service team.
This role involves ensuring the smooth operation and staffing of the Extended Hours service offered throughout Wigan and Leigh.
The Service coordinator is responsible to the Service Manager and duties include ensuring that rotas for staff working in the Alliances Hub locations are fully completed and updated. The successful candidate needs to be both proactive and reactive as this is an ever changing role. Hub staff not being available at short notice presents varying difficulties the coordinator would need to resolve in what is sometimes a short period of time. It involves thinking on your feet, remaining calm and being positive.
Main duties of the job
The service coordinator is part of a small but vital team ensuring the successful delivery of Primary Care appointments throughout the Borough of Wigan, to cover evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Hours of work are Sunday 08:00 - 16:00. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 12:00 - 20:00.
As the Alliance grows so will the diversity of opportunities and duties within the organisation and this opportunity has become available due to a promotion within the Alliance.
Previous experience of working within a GP Surgery is an advantage but training will be provided for the successful candidates.
The successful applicant must have good attention to detail and ability to operate different IT systems (training given).
There is a requirement for the successful candidate to attend any of the Extended Hours hubs during their working patterns so a full driving license is essential. Travel whilst working will be in one of the Company vehicles but the successful applicant must have access to their own vehicle.

Wigan GP Alliance is a well-established Primary Care provider within the Borough of Wigan and Leigh, established in 2015 to respond to the Prime Ministers Challenge Fund. The Alliance has grown to deliver its core services and extended its delivery to provide many more services and additional support for the whole Borough, reacting when required to in time of need eg Covid-19 response.
We provide services across the whole Borough to a number of fixed locations.

Able to work successfully both autonomously and as part of a team; maintaining good working relationships and knowing when to refer to others.
To demonstrate good organisation and logistical skills and apply a high attention to detail.
To have a basic knowledge of the NHS and Wigan GP Alliances services. (Training will be provided where necessary).
Being able to perform in a flexible and proactive manner, adapting to changing priorities and circumstances as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential
1. GCSE grade A to C in English and Math's
2. Confident ability to use a PC and comfortable to train with our in house packages.
3. There is daily use of MS software packages so experience of Word and especially Excel.
4. Driving license and own car essential
