JOB OVERVIEW: An exciting opportunity has been created for an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the LD Youth CAMHS team based at Oulton near Lowestoft, Suffolk. We are a specialist service for children, adolescents and young adults (0-25) with a learning disability where there are concerns about their behaviour, emotional well-being or mental health and whose needs cannot be met in mainstream services.
This will be a varied role, whilst the successful candidate will be a non-medical prescriber, the role will bring a host of exciting responsibilities and challenges. They will offer clinical leadership to our nursing team and provide support to our MDT and hold a small case load of complex cases.
The successful candidate will be required to travel as part of the post; therefore, a full driving license and access to a car is essential.
Main Duties of the Job
Joining the clinical leadership team and working as part of the MDT, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning and implementing appropriate treatment to young people who access our service. This may also require medication reviews.
There will be the expectation to liaise with other agencies, including paediatric services, education and social care, who may also be providing support to the young people in your care.
The successful applicant will also offer opportunities for clinical supervision and consultation to the team’s nurses and wider MDT and have involvement in developing the service we provide.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Leadership
Provide advice and leadership to clinical staff in areas related to clinical care including, treatment, therapy and clinical risk assessment and management.
Provide consultation support and supervision to teams on issues relating to nursing practice.
Be a role model in initiating, facilitating and promoting excellence in Evidence Based Nursing Practice.
Develop processes and systems to share learning from local and national research and National guidance.
Ensure any learning is embedded and sustained in clinical services.
Clinical
Seek out and receive appropriate level training to keep abreast of changing trends and practices.
Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures contributing to policy development via Governance processes, particularly in relation to clinical care.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of current legislation and policy that underpins mental healthcare delivery.
Participate in clinical audit, practice research initiatives, quality assurance and clinical governance.
Communication
Communicate educational and practice information within the clinical environment.
Employ motivational, persuasive, empathetic and communication skills within the clinical team.
Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team, working across statutory and non-statutory settings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RMN or equivalent professional qualification. Non-Medical Independent Prescriber. Degree Level Qualification or equivalent.
* Study experience at Masters level.
Experience
* Extensive experience that has required supervision and mentorship of others.
* Experience of implementing evidence-based practice and/or service improvement initiatives.
Skills
* Ability to communicate widely in a clear manner.
* Ability to problem-solve.
* Confident manner. Approachable, tactful and diplomatic.
Knowledge
* Able to demonstrate sound clinical expertise and knowledge of mental health disorders and their treatments.

* Ability to travel to all Trust locations if required. Flexible Attitude.
