Our client is looking for a Logistics & Admin Assistant to join their team based in Colchester.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Arrange timely road freight shipments to European customers.
2. Arrange sea and airfreight shipments to overseas customers.
3. Liaise with suppliers, couriers, and agents for timely delivery.
4. Monitor shipments and resolve issues (delays, damages, paperwork discrepancies).
5. Collaborate with sales and purchasing teams, updating them on issues.
6. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations for product shipments.
7. Organize and file sales and customs clearance paperwork.
8. Provide customs clearance and delivery instructions to agents and couriers.
9. Inform warehouse of expected daily export collections.
10. Update export documentation with required information; prepare original documents (COO's, EUR1's).
11. Ensure correct ADR and IATA documentation and labeling for products.
12. Oversee sample requests and update relevant departments with approvals.
13. Request quotes from transport agents and approve invoices for payment.
14. Maintain accurate records of shipments, transit times, and transport costs.
Skills
1. Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening.
2. Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of character.
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
4. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
5. Experience in using a wide range of relevant IT packages. Strong attention to detail.
Experience
1. Proven customer support experience.
2. Knowledge of shipping - Imports and Exports / Customs procedures.
3. Dangerous Goods (training will be provided).
Salary
£26K p/a
Working hours
08:30-16:30 or 09:00-17:00.
Annual Leave
20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
