BAM Nuttall are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who can strengthen our existing team, delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. The projects are predominantly within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero.

Your mission As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:
Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy
Maintain effective communication with your peers
Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents
Commercial management of subcontractors including payments preparation, final account work
Monitor cost of site resources
Input to monthly cost and value reports including risk management, quarterly reports and present to senior management
Input in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy
Understand and promote usage of Company Procedures
Assisting in change management
Ensure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments
Attend and provide input to all site required meetings
Manage time and workloads for yourself and the commercial team in a structured manner
Who are we looking for? Successful experience at Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor level with a minimum of 1-2 years experience working for tier 1 contractors (other backgrounds may be considered)
Understanding of basic contract law and contractual obligations
Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar.
Open Collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you
Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential)
