37 hours per week (7:15am to 3:15pm), term-time plus one weekWe are seeking to appoint a Cover Manager, responsible for organising high quality classroom cover for absent teachers and managing the deployment and performance of the Cover Supervisor team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable, confident, flexible, well-organised person with good communication and IT skills to join our supportive team.
Duties will include leading and supporting a small team of Cover Supervisors and regular supply staff to ensure that daily cover is delivered effectively and efficiently; the accurate and timely recording and reporting of staff absence; the collation of cover work; and liaison with external supply agencies. Whilst ideally, the successful candidate would also be able to support the team in delivering some set learning activities to students, this isn’t an essential requirement of the role.
As a senior member of the school support team, the role will also involve providing some wider support to the senior leadership team as needed. The nature of this work will vary depending on the skills and capabilities of the successful candidate and can be discussed further at interview.
Good communication skills and time management are essential as are excellent IT skills. The successful candidate will ideally have some prior experience of leading a team and working with young people. The ability to keep calm under pressure and respect confidentiality is essential along with sound numeracy and literacy skills and proven administrative and organisational skills. A knowledge and understanding of the education sector or some experience of working within a school environment would also be desirable.
