About Us
We’re the organisation that looks after England's most important buildings and monuments, ensuring our country's amazing history is available for everyone to enjoy. From world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, Roman forts to a Cold War bunker, we bring the history of England to life.
For 500 years, until the English and Scottish crowns were united in 1603, Carlisle Castle was the principal fortress of England’s north-western border with Scotland. A mighty stronghold in the frequent conflict between the two countries, the castle has endured more sieges than any other place in the British Isles.
Today the site welcomes approximately 43,000 visitors annually, who come to discover the stories of the castle’s rich and turbulent past. Visitors can explore the medieval castle rooms, walk the castle walls, and visit Cumbria's Museum of Military Life.
We are looking for a Carlisle Castle Cluster Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 36 hours per week. We are also recruiting to a Cluster Manager role at Whitby Abbey.
