The Role
1. To be a part of a team offering a comprehensive residential service to children and young people, ensuring the physical, social, and emotional care and development of the young residents and the establishment.
2. To carry out duties in line with Back on Track's policies and procedures.
3. To act as a key worker to specific children and young people.
4. To promote structure, boundaries, and domestic routines within the home.
5. Working in line with children and young people's care and placement plans.
6. Promoting positive outcomes for children and young people in areas of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, and achieving economic wellbeing.
7. To work in accordance with the legal frameworks that govern practice, including Quality Standards for Children's Homes 2015 and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
8. Cooperate with any inspection process.
9. Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting yourself in a highly professional manner.
10. Work in partnership with other agencies to the benefit of the young people.
11. Participate in and complete reports for statutory reviews and meetings concerning the young people.
12. Support young people with project and group work.
13. Undertake the role of Key Working and ensure you have a full understanding of this role in compliance with Key Working policy.
14. Undertake relevant training programmes as required by the National Minimum Care Standards.
15. Work in partnership with colleagues and other professionals to meet the social, emotional, educational, health, and mental health needs of young people.
16. Work within the code of confidentiality and ensure that records in the home are stored in a manner compliant with GDPR regulations.
17. Awareness and responsibility for the health and safety of the home, young people, colleagues, and yourself.
18. You must cooperate with the organisation in complying with Health and Safety requirements and are expected to follow Company policies, acquaint yourself with the Fire, Health and Safety Procedures, and report any unsafe practices and conditions.
Other Requirements
1. Full driving licence is preferred.
2. All Mandatory and specialist training to be attended as directed.
3. Staff meetings and clinical supervision groups to be attended.
4. Supervision to be attended as directed.
Skills And Qualifications
1. NVQ 3 – Level 3 Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children Young People's workforce.
2. Effective communication skills with colleagues, outside agencies, children, and families.
3. Good interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative when required.
5. Effective listening skills.
6. Reporting and recording to a high standard.
Knowledge
1. Ability to work in partnership with other agencies including Local Authorities.
2. Ability to form professional and positive relationships with children and young people.
3. Effective communication with children and families.
4. Ability to work in isolation and understand potential risks that this may bring and respond appropriately.
5. Ability to deal with difficult situations and make appropriate decisions in line with the reporting procedures in the home.
6. Ability to learn quickly and absorb information related to working with children and young people.
7. Promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people.
8. Willingness to ask for guidance and support, and to admit mistakes.
