• Work alone or with a team with staff, volunteers and young people to organise, prepare and serve healthy food.
• Run a lunch service to a high standard preparing simple food for young people to eat in or take away.
• Demonstrate high levels of food hygiene and kitchen safety at all times.
• Take responsibility for tidying and cleaning all areas of the building.
• Manage stock and ensure level of waste is minimal.
• Manage products coming into and out of the community fridge located in the building.
• To monitor behaviour of young people and to effectively support any issues of concern in a calm and professional manner.
• To be responsible for the safe-guarding and health and safety of young people attending sessions.
• Be familiar with and adhere to Biggar Youth Project’s Child Protection, Health and Safety, data protection and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.
• Take part in training and development opportunities useful to the role.
• Work as part of a team to lead youth group activities.
• Support, supervise and encourage young people to participate fully in activities provided and to come forward with any issues, worries or problems they have.
• Be a positive role model for the young people.
• Foster an environment where young people can have their voices heard.
• Ensure BYP is a place where young people have their well-being and mental health cared for and strengthened.
• Assist young people to develop the service provided to meet their needs.
• Advocate for young people in our local communities.
• Assist with the planning, preparation and provision of activities.
• Provide support for young people at particular stages of their lives e.g. transition to high school and during exams.
• Contribute to staff evaluation of youth work sessions.
• Promote the benefits of youth volunteering, supporting young people into volunteering opportunities.
