Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the City’s wastewater program including the plant, the lab, and the collection system. Oversees process control, bio-solids handling, equipment maintenance, and performs related duties as required. Responsible for the administrative management and coordination of planning, scheduling, development and implementation of daily activities, duties, special events, and projects at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP); oversees work of department personnel. May supervise water department personnel in the absence of the Public Works Director as assigned. Position requires emergency callback at any time.
Minimum Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus seven (7) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent experience and certification;
* New Mexico Environment Department Utility Operator certification wastewater level IV;
* Valid New Mexico driver’s license and have or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire CDL class B; must be insurable by City’s vehicle insurance provider.
Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Operations Management, Business Management, or equivalent from four-year college or university; seven (7) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. State of New Mexico Wastewater Level IV operator certification/EPA certification as required for plant operations.
3. Valid New Mexico driver’s License, CDL-B (minimum) and be insurable by City’s vehicle insurance carrier.
Special Requirements
City of Espanola employment application and proof of NMED certification required.
