Engineering Shift Manager – Responsibility Effectively prioritise, co-ordinate and control all engineering related tasks, materials and human resources to ensure efficient continuity of production and flow of information throughout the engineering functionIn conjunction with the Production Management, ensure the continual availability and safe operation of efficient plant and machinery, across all shifts, by the effective implementation, operation and updating of the planned maintenance programmeTo recommend, support and introduce improvement initiatives to improve team performance and to develop a culture of continuous improvement within the teamAssist in the selection, training and development of all engineering staff, ensuring on a day to day basis their control, motivation and discipline to obtain maximum efficiency and good employee relationsTo develop and monitor a continuous training programme which enhances department and people skills in line with IIP principles and to ensure best management practice in training and appraisal and ongoing development of engineering staffDeputise for the Site Engineering Manager in his absence and in the absence of production management undertake the role of "responsible person" for all activities within the factory operationsUndertake any other duties, which may be required in relation to the engineering and production functionsTo ensure all documentation and record systems are maintained to high standards on a daily basis in accordance with ISO 9001:2008To maintain a high degree of both product and personal safety, particularly relating to mechanical matters, in accordance with Company, HSE, HMCE and HACCP requirements within a good manufacturing environment Engineering Shift Manager - Job Requirements: The ideal candidate must come from the manufacturing industry as a Engineering Shift Manager You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience: Recognised indentured apprenticeship or equivalent qualification followed by several years experience within a packaging industryElectrically biasedFive years engineering management experience within a high speed manufacturing operationProven track record of Team Working and building teams with a continuous improvement objectiveExperience of good manufacturing practice and modern manufacturing techniques and implementation of systems and procedures for improved manufacturing performanceMulti-skilling and the ability to accurately diagnose and correct both mechanical and electrical faults on packaging machineryAble to communicate at all levelsAbility to maintain a high level of discipline associated with the daily compliance of hygiene standards and the safe operation of factory equipmentPC/IT skills sufficient to understand how IT can support and enhance manufacturing performanceAbility to motivate and develop staff to their full potentialEffective CommunicatorPractical Interpersonal SkillsPeople Management Skills For more information please call Sam Arnold on 0161 976 3540.
