Job summary
We are please to advertise a great opportunity for a Salaried GP at The Village Medical Centre in Wednesbury. We are a forward thinking, dynamic practice serving 10200 patients across two sites. We are looking to appoint a friendly and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our growing multidisciplinary team. The job will include 6 sessions per week over 3 days. We welcome applications from experienced GPs and through the Black Country GP Fellowship scheme.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a GP who shares our values of offering high quality patient centered care.
There will be a mixture of telephone, video and face to face appointments
Triage and treat patients wishing to see a health care professional, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team and appropriate referrals into secondary care and other organisations.
Adhering to the practice prescribing formulary
To participate in the audit process, evaluation and implementing plans and practice change in order to meet patient need.
There is a pro-rata share of paperwork, correspondence and test results associated with patient care.
Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and work colleagues.
About us
We have an established team of 5 GPs, 2 ANPs, 2 Nurse Prescribers, 3 HCAs, 1 Pharmacist and working in collaboration with the PCN as part of the ARRS roles we have 3 Physician Associates, 3 pharmacists, 1 Primary Care mental Health Nurse and 1 Social Prescriber. We are a training practice and at present have 2 GP Registrars. Our patient base of 10,200 patients is based across 2 sites in Wednesbury, both buildings are purposely built. The Village Medical Centre, our main practice site was recently extended in 2019. We have an excellent working environment with supportive GPs and Nurses and the surgery is well managed with a Business Manager and Practice Manager. Prescription burden is minimal due to our Medicine Management team and we work collaboratively with an onsite Pharmacy. We have an excellent administration and data team to keep GP workflow prioritised. We use System One and Accurx. We meet weekly for clinical meetings and learning opportunities. We have ample onsite parking, Our home visit request is low. We work well within our PCN (Health Vision Partnership), and you will be expected to contribute to extended hours on a rota basis.

Diagnosing and treating patients
1. Triage and treat patients wishing to see a health care professional, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team.
2. Appropriate referrals to secondary care and other organisations.
3. Responding to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.
4. Providing appropriate preventative health care advice.
5. Adhering to the Practice prescribing formulary
6. Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations.
7. Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments, with referral to other members of the Primary and Secondary Health care team as necessary.
8. Work from the surgery and within communities as an autonomous practitioner caring for patients and their families.

10. To undertake assessment for patients within the community and those attending surgery, using diagnostic skills and initiation of investigations where appropriate.

Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures
1. Request appropriate investigations and to deal with the results that are returned.
Administration and Professional Responsibilities
1. Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team
2. Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes.
3. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient healthcare and registration with the practice.
4. Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports and audit.
5. Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
6. Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties necessary for the delivery of the GMS Contract
Training and Personal Development
1. Training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practice requirements. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the practice. It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments.
2. Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the introduction of all members of the practice staff where appropriate.
3. Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development, ensuring PREP requirements are met.
