Patient Pathway Coordinator - Breast Screening Programme
Avon Breast Screening is the largest breast screening programme in the South West, inviting over 60,000 women every year for breast screening. It is one of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programmes (NHSBSP) aiming to save lives through early detection of breast cancer.
Approximately 5% of women who have routine breast screening are recalled for a further assessment and just under 1% of this cohort go on to have treatment for breast cancer. We refer patients for surgery to NBT Southmead Hospital, The RUH Bath and Weston General Hospital. The role of the Patient Pathway Coordinator includes overseeing the breast screening aspects of the patient pathway for these patients, working closely with Consultant Radiologists and Breast Cancer Nurse Specialists.
