ROLE SUMMARY:

In August 2025, we seek a Head of Humanities to lead a department that includes Geography, History, Global Perspectives, and Psychology. The ability to teach at A-Level or IBDP is advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead the Humanities Department, ensuring high standards across subjects.
* Inspire staff and students, creating a motivating and inclusive learning environment.
* Develop and implement a diverse curriculum aligned with GCSE, A-Level, and IBDP.
* Monitor student progress and provide necessary interventions to achieve academic goals.
* Contribute to school improvement by setting departmental priorities aligned with school development plans.
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to individual student needs, fostering critical thinking.
* Support professional growth within the team by offering mentorship and professional development opportunities.
* Promote extra-curricular activities, such as trips and clubs, to enhance student engagement.
* Prioritize student well-being by ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment.
* Uphold professional standards, adhering to school policies and safeguarding practices.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
* A degree in a Humanities subject (Geography, History, Global Perspectives, or Psychology) and a teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred.
* Experience leading or managing a department, with strong leadership skills.
* Knowledge of GCSE, A-Level, and/or IBDP curricula and the ability to teach one of these at a senior level.
* A proven track record of fostering student achievement through effective teaching and assessment.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, staff, and parents.
* A commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
* Experience organizing extra-curricular activities that enrich the student experience.
* A solid understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to student welfare.
