Description: Our client, a leading multidisciplinary consultancy, is seeking a mechanically biased Associate to join their dynamic M&E team based in Leeds. Recently relocating their headquarters to the heart of Leeds’ business community, they offer a diverse range of professional services including mechanical and electrical design, civil and structural engineering, acoustics, planning, and project management.
This role is central to the structure and performance of their building services team, encompassing engineering design delivery, project management, and team performance oversight. You will play a key role in delivering building services across a variety of sectors, such as defence, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education, and leisure, for both public and private clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of building services engineering solutions, ensuring quality and compliance.
* Manage technical and commercial aspects of projects, from concept to handover.
* Develop and guide a team of engineers, providing mentorship and reviewing work.
* Prepare cost estimates and budgets, ensuring financial control.
* Foster and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring project briefs and programmes are met.
* Actively contribute to business development through project bids, interviews, and tender submissions.
* Ensure designs align with sustainability goals, including zero and low-carbon initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
* Educational Background: Degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, or a related field.
* Professional Accreditation: Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional body.
* Experience: Proven track record in managing building services projects across diverse sectors.
* Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering and low-carbon design.
* Familiarity with electrical engineering, public health, sustainability, and construction principles.
* Experience with IES software for cooling/heating loads, energy models, and simulations.
* Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks (knowledge of MagiCAD is an advantage).
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in managing client relationships.
* Leadership: Ability to lead and develop a team, instilling a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Additional Requirements
* Must be eligible for security clearance to MOD “SC” level.
