We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to work as an Associate Practitioner in this friendly, well-equipped Cellular Pathology department, which processes approximately 35,000 samples per year, providing essential services to the Trust and the wider health care community.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and your work will ensure that the department continues to deliver a high quality, timely and effective service, where patient experience and safety is central.
The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation and to work as part of an enthusiastic team with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of routine Cellular Pathology including specimen reception, microtomy, embedding, special staining techniques, and Immunohistochemistry. Developmental opportunities are available for specimen dissection for RCPATH category A specimens, Quality Management and Health & Safety.
Experience of working in a Cellular Pathology laboratory, whilst not essential would be advantageous. The post holder will also be expected to help support the training and development of junior staff.
The Cellular Pathology Department is in an exciting period of service development and is in the process of implementing a Digital Pathology solution. We are currently verifying the Roche Vantage tracking system and all key lab equipment was refreshed in the summer of 2021 which will enable us to continue providing a high quality service for our patients and service users.
The central Histology laboratory service is situated on the Royal Hampshire Hospital site in Winchester with a small satellite team based at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. The post holder will work as part of the team based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital.
Hampshire Hospitals Cellular Pathology is accredited by UKAS to ISO15189:2012 and complies with HTA standards
