Mechanical Contracts Manager - Life Science - Central London
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Mechanical Contracts Manager is responsible for the delivery of Building Services Systems across designated large and/or multiple smaller scale projects that are On Time, On Budget, and meet the company's Zero objectives of Safety, Quality, and Energy. By applying and utilizing the Company's MEP Management Systems and Procedures, the objective is to deliver fully integrated and commissioned MEP systems on projects that will meet the Specified Design and statutory requirements, leading to seamless handover with the building systems performing to the Client's satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
* Promote the application of the Building Services Department Management Systems and Procedures, providing technical support, guidance, and direction in overall delivery of projects.
* Support the Building Services Value Proposition and its alignment with the Business Units and Company's Vision, Values, and Ambition Objectives.
* Support delivery of the Building Services Strategy Plan and objectives.
* Support the tender and award of MEP packages in accordance with the required Project Pre-Construction and procurement strategy, and objectives.
* Ensure Temporary Electrical requirements for projects, including load and energy assessments, are in line with the Management System Guidelines.
* Take responsibility for MEP Integration and Project delivery as part of the overall project team.
* Ensure management of MEP elements on contracts is in accordance with the full suite of Building Services Management Procedures and Guidance documentation and specific Project Execution Plans (PEP).
* Ensure the finalization of Building Services Installation and Commissioning programmes are aligned and integrated with the main Construction Programme.
* Engage with Utility companies from the outset of the project to ensure their infrastructural and interface requirements are understood, communicated, and adhered to.
* Ensure Co-Ordination and Builders Works Drawings are provided by the MEP Contractors for approval and construction to meet the programme requirements.
* Ensure the process of tracking equipment & plant from submittal approvals through to samples and mock-ups, ordering, FATs, delivery, and quality checks is carefully managed to meet the programme requirements.
* Maintain focus and recognition of key risks presenting to project delivery by way of programme, contractual, or commercial matters arising with mitigation plans in place.
* Ensure management of the formal QMS snagging/quality walk downs and associated progressive inspection and sign off of the MEP Installations.
* Ensure plans are in place for careful management of MEP Start Up and Control of Live Energies in accordance with the Company Guidelines.
* Ensure development and implementation of site-specific ITP, Commissioning, and Handover Plans are carried out with the MEP Contractors.
* Ensure completion of the Safety Files and process for Soft Landings for projects.
* Promote the Brand and offering by maintaining and building relations with key Project stakeholders including Clients, Architects, MEP Consultants, and Supply Chain.
Requirements:
* Over 6 years of work experience in managing large scale and complex MEP related Projects.
* Understanding of the MEP supply chain market and dynamics in which the company operates.
* Professional competence through operational involvement in all phases of large scale complex projects from Estimating, Pre-Construction, installation, Commissioning, Demonstration, and Handover.
* Demonstrated technical, effective interpersonal, and commercial skills necessary to deliver MEP Projects.
* Understanding of H&S policies and live energy practices, with positive safety values and behaviors.
* Demonstrated drive for the importance of implementation of QMS Systems, ITP, and Commissioning Management/Handover plans.
* Drive and initiative to identify and follow through on all tasks required for delivery.
* Articulate and strong communication skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire more junior Building Services staff reporting to them.
* Clarity of purpose in objectives in project delivery.
* Strong organizational skills, taking a methodical and proactive approach.
* Actively seeks ways to share knowledge and mentor more junior staff.
* Degree in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Membership of an industry-related Professional institution such as CIBSE, CIOB, IEI or equivalent.
* IOSH or equivalent H&S Management Training.
* Planning and Programming experience.
* Live Energies/Arc Flash Training.
* ACIBSE level or equivalent.
* BIM Fundamentals.
