Job Title: Health & Safety Manager Location: Cookstown Opportunity to work 3 or 5 days per week Salary: Negotiable Reports To: Production Director Job Overview: We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead and implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies in our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, reducing workplace risks, and fostering a strong safety culture among employees. Key Responsibilities: Health & Safety Compliance Ensure the company complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE laws, industry standards, and best practices. Prepare and submit necessary reports and documentation to regulatory bodies. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards. Implement preventative measures and corrective actions to reduce workplace risks. Develop and update safe systems of work (SSOW) and method statements. Incident Management & Investigations Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and incidents, identifying root causes. Implement corrective actions and report findings to senior management. Maintain records of incidents and ensure lessons learned are communicated across the business. Training & Employee Engagement Deliver health & safety training for employees, including manual handling, PPE usage, fire safety, and emergency response. Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with staff and encouraging proactive risk management. Ensure new employees undergo comprehensive HSE inductions. Environmental & Sustainability Compliance Oversee waste management, recycling, and environmental impact initiatives. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability targets. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and management systems. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and efficiency. Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and insurers as required. Requirements: NEBOSH Diplomaor equivalent qualification in Health & Safety. Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager in a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards. Experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and accident investigations. Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive a safety-first culture.
