Child Protection Co-ordinator (2960), Stornoway
18.5 hours per week, permanent post
£22,563 - £24,424 per annum, inclusive of £1,371 Distant Island Allowance per annum
The post holder will support the work of the Western Isles Chief Officer Group for Child Protection and the Child Protection Committee by developing, co-ordinating and implementing Child Protection policies and practice throughout the Western Isles.
Duties will include supporting the Lead Officer in reviewing service performance and striving to improve the quality and efficiency of the services in your functional area; managing the inter-agency training budget; planning and supporting the inter-agency response to Child Protection inspections; delivering a rolling programme of level 1 and level 2 Child Protection Training; and chairing any multi-agency care planing reviews for children as instructed by line manager.
You must have detailed knowledge of the legislative framework surrounding child care and child protection and demonstrable awareness of the issues/barriers to inter agency learning. It is essential you have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to write detailed policy/committee reports.
It is essential you hold a professional qualification in Social Work/nursing/teaching or relevant police qualification. You must have extensive direct experience of child protection/child care and direct experience of providing training for both qualified and unqualified staff.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
