The Families First Advice line offer advice, support and guidance for families and professionals in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The team offer a personal service aimed at listening to the needs of each family. By working with parents / carers / professionals the team support individuals to resolve their concerns independently or identify other services that can offer support.

About the role
Pay Details : Grade 6: SCP – 14 – 19 (£28,624 - £31,067) p.a. pro rata
Hours of Work / Working Pattern : Monday to Wednesday 37 hours
Main Place of Work : Berry Community Enterprise Centre, Barry
Temporary Reason : Families First grant funded until March 2028 - continuation of the post past March 2028 is subject to Welsh Government funding.
Description: To provide advice and guidance to families/carers, initially by telephone, in line with the Families First guidance, relevant national standards and local and national legislation and guidance
About you
You will need :
Experience
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in an appropriate statutory/voluntary setting with children/young people and families.
2. Experience of working in partnership with other agencies.
Knowledge
3. Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014
4. Awareness of child protection and risk assessment
5. Child development.
Skills and aptitudes
6. Ability to analyse and evaluate information.
7. Ability to identify, assess and manage risk.
8. Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively in verbal and written form.
9. Ability to negotiate and liaise with individuals and agencies.
10. Ability to operate IT casework management systems.
11. Ability to plan and prioritise work.
12. Ability to work under pressure and to have a flexible approach to work.
Qualifications and training
13. 5 GCSEs grades C and above or equivalent.
