The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a full-time Consultant Oral Surgeon. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team of supportive consultants providing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Services to the County of Shropshire and a substantial part of the adjacent Welsh County of Powys. There is no on-call commitment attached to this job.
Main duties of the job
1. You will be required to undertake general dentoalveolar work as part of service provision requirements.
2. You will undertake Outpatient Clinics at both Hospitals with a main inpatient base and dedicated Head and Neck ward at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
3. You will undertake day-case operating in the newly opened elective hub based Royal Princess Hospital at Telford.
4. To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of a varying range of dentoalveolar conditions, as well as being able to assist with treatment planning and treatment of multi-disciplinary cases.
5. To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
6. To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
7. To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.

Qualifications
* FDS (Oral Surgery) or equivalent
* Member in Oral Surgery (MOralSurg) or equivalent
* Possession of both a medical degree and Dental degree from UK recognised institutions
* Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) or equivalent
Entry Criteria
* Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Dental Council (GDC)
* Entry on the General Dental Council (GDC) Specialist Register via one of the following: - Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) (the proposed CCST date must be within 6 months of the interview) - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Oral Surgery or equivalent
* Successful completion of an SAC recommended and approved 5 year minimum training programme in Oral Surgery, or within 6 months of completion
* 5 years of training within the NHS required for the specialty with evidence of validated surgical logbooks
