Role Responsibility
You as the Distribution Manager - Bitumen will work cross-functionally managing our Bitumen Distribution across the South East and Midlands region, this will primarily include the day-to-day management and communications with your colleagues and customers to provide the ‘face’ of Tarmac. You will work with our Asphalt plants and haulage partner to ensure all sites are replenished with Bitumen as and when they need it.
You will be instrumental in moving Tarmac from a % supplier delivered model; to a % collect and own delivery model, this will be a key focus during the first year of the role. i.e. Establishing a Tarmac delivery model for our Asphalt plants. This role will play a major part in developing the strategy for that transition, as well as implementing this new model.
Your role as a Distribution Manager - Bitumen will include (not exhaustive):
1. Ensure ownership on all Bitumen day to day activities and be ready to receive and manage escalation processes as well as your everyday workload
2. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business you're working for by identifying and taking ownership of opportunities for improvement to the processes we use, the services we provide and the values you can add to the business
3. Manage the input of accurate customer data into the CRM system for your business unit
4. Responsible for the Quality Control processes related to Bitumen supply
5. Ensure our loading terminal maintains UKCA accreditation
6. Oversee the daily testing process to ensure product is in specification as to the end user requirements
7. Based on test results, produce blend recipes daily and liaise with terminal operator to ensure they are applied
8. Manage Bitumen ship imports ensuring all required testing and inspection is carried out
9. Manage our truck imports to the terminal of blend components or additives – placing orders for replenishment
10. Detail in-tank transfers and blends when required
11. Work with the Tarmac technical teams in the developmental support of new products
12. Act as focal point with Bitumen suppliers on all technical items

The Ideal Candidate
To succeed in the role of a Distribution Manager - Bitumen the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:
13. Experience in the logistical / distribution of Bitumen would prove extremely beneficial, but we would consider the equivalent experience in the fuel, oil or gas environment in this role
14. A strong focus on delivery service and partnership building
15. The willingness to travel between Tarmac offices, this will be required in the role
16. Experience of strategic planning, process improvement and bitumen management
17. Confident in the use of IT systems
18. Outstanding communication, leadership, collaboration and influencing skills
19. Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems
20. Effective decision making skills
