We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to help oversee and coordinate a portfolio of infrastructure projects ensuring their successful delivery. Reporting to the TRU (TransPennine Route Upgrade) Depots & Stabling Programme Manager, you will be helping to manage the scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality and resource requirements across allocated projects to enhance the Northern Depot facilities to support the Transpennine Route Upgrade. You’ll be engaging with Northern stakeholders and external stakeholders to identify and manage dependencies. Actively seeking opportunities to coordinate work activities and deliver efficiencies. You will play a key role in ensuring that all our projects adhere to governance requirements and that project documentation is maintained in an orderly manner. What you'll be doing: This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include: Responsible for overseeing projects from initiation to service entry, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications. Clearly defining project requirements and scopes, supporting robust estimation and business case development. Collaborating with stakeholders to manage dependencies, coordinate activities, and identify efficiencies. Maintaining accurate cost schedules and project timelines, ensuring compliance with change control mechanisms. Managing contract interfaces and leading project progress meetings, design reviews, and commercial evaluation meetings. Ensuring adherence to governance requirements, including safety, environment, and procurement governance, while maintaining secure and orderly project documentation. Risk & issues analysis, working with the team to manage and minimise. About You: You will have project management experience, ideally with a related qualification and membership of a professional body. Proactive, highly motivated and with the capability to form effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across organisational boundaries. We’re also looking for the following: Degree level qualifications and/or relevant experience in managing Construction/Property related projects. Attention to detail, reliable mathematical ability and accuracy in all your work, and good standard of literacy and presentation skills. It would be useful but not essential to have an understanding of railway geography and organisational structures, particularly Network Rail. What’s in it for you?
