Job Description:
My client, a prestigious multi-strat hedge fund, is seeking an exceptional Data Developer to join their Reporting & Analytics team within their London office.
In this role, you will play a key role in designing and developing next-generation reporting and data analytics solutions, with a strong focus on P&L reporting and operational decision-making.
As part of a rapidly growing firm, you will work on revamping existing implementations, optimizing data pipelines, and implementing rigorous data standards to support key business functions across the firm.
This is a business-critical role, working closely with Risk, Finance, Trading, and Business Solutions teams to build high-performance data models and pipelines that drive decision-making at scale.
This role will offer continuous exposure to Portfolio Managers, Risk & Portfolio Research teams, Product Control, and Compliance, providing an opportunity to influence critical workflows and enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
1. Design & implement robust data pipelines and ETL processes, ensuring high standards in data modeling, documentation, and testing.
2. Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, aggregation, and reporting.
3. Collaborate with key business teams (Risk, Portfolio Research, Compliance) to build efficient and scalable reporting solutions.
4. Support critical production processes, including daily T+1 and month-end P&L workflows.
5. Stay ahead of database technologies and continuously evaluate new data ingestion methods and performance optimizations.
6. Provide on-call coverage for critical services, particularly in Asian trading hours when required.
7. Train & mentor other developers in data engineering best practices.
Requirements
1. Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in data modeling, ETL pipelines, and large datasets.
2. 5+ years of experience working with P&L reporting, financial analytics, or similar data-driven workflows in a financial institution.
3. Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and data pipeline automation.
4. A deep understanding of financial markets, trading workflows, and risk analytics is highly beneficial.
5. Ability to work independently and within a small, high-performance team in a fast-paced environment.
6. Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
My client anticipates to pay a strong performer upwards of £350k year 1 total compensation package. As well as a market-leading compensation package, they offer exceptional benefits including a top-tier healthcare package, fully subsidised qualifications plus breakfast and lunch paid for each day.
