We manage a growing quantity of high-quality engineered carbon removal credits, both from our own projects and those managed on behalf of our clients. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Head of Carbon Solutions. The successful candidate will lead our carbon trading operations, developing and implementing a strategy balanced between long-term offtake agreements and spot market sales. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the CEO, day-to-day activities will include: Developing and implementing the Onnu Carbon Credit Sales Strategy in line with client expectations and supply availability, considering commercial and policy considerations. Identifying new business opportunities within the carbon market, including evaluating existing and new carbon sequestration technologies that may interest Onnu. Advising current and prospective customers on the carbon market and various carbon removal techniques on offer. Engaging with current and prospective customers to establish how Onnu’s carbon credits can fit into their emissions reduction goals. Guiding our customers and internal teams on project diligence, technical considerations, and commercial/deal structuring decisions. Keeping abreast of market developments. Building insights and capturing feedback to improve our processes and products. Helping build internal know-how, thought leadership, and collateral to support the internal team and customers in the carbon markets, particularly carbon removal. Contributing to establishing Onnu as a trusted brand and voice in the carbon markets/carbon removal space. Speaking at events, publishing opinion pieces, and creating content to help build our brand. Leading a team while being a strong individual contributor, managing supplier partnerships to build robust offerings for our customers. Overseeing all operations of the voluntary carbon trading desk, including strategy development and execution. Conducting thorough market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the voluntary carbon markets. Ensuring all trading activities comply with Verra, Puro, and other relevant carbon offset standards and regulations. Collaborating with internal teams to manage full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes, ensuring accurate and compliant carbon footprint calculations. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies to support trading activities. Providing leadership, training, and guidance to the carbon trading team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Preparing and presenting detailed reports on trading performance, market trends, and sustainability initiatives. Required Experience and Skills Significant previous experience in business development/sales in carbon removal and carbon project financing, working with corporates/financial institutions and project developers. Deep understanding of carbon markets methodologies (preferably Puro and/or Verra), technologies, and standards, preferably also in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR). Proven track record in carbon market deals, including diligence, negotiation, and registration. Expertise in structuring different types of carbon finance strategies, such as offtakes and prepayments, for buyers/investors and project developers. Strong network and understanding of the Voluntary Carbon Market landscape, including industry bodies, frameworks, developers, market trends, consultants, and service providers. Successful track record of helping corporations achieve their carbon strategy through voluntary carbon markets. Understanding of the Life Cycle Assessment process and the due diligence required as part of carbon credit sales.
