Yard Team Leader
Site based- Gainsborough - Marley
Upto £39,616 per annum depending upon experience
Between 36.5 and 44.5 hrs per week depending on business needs, Days based Monday to Friday

The role…
Working from our busy manufacturing site and reporting directly to the Operations Manager. As a Yard Team Leader this position will have responsibility for day to day running of the yard; ensuring that all equipment is stored away safely when not in use, deliveries go out in a timely manner and that the team are actively working with a safety first culture.
Responsibilities
* Enforce safety practices including safe loading and PPE compliance
* Ensure vehicle and pedestrian segregation is maintained
* Conduct safety checks and promote a zero-incident culture
* Oversee timber deliveries, movements, and dispatch accuracy
* Maintain accurate SAP records for goods in/out
* Monitor stock rotation and ensure aged stock is minimized
* Lead, develop, and motivate the yard team
* Identify training needs and promote multiskilling
* Maintain staffing levels and shift cover
* Liaise with Planning, Transport, and Customer Services teams
* Provide timely updates on delays, issues, and priorities
* Support effective yard flow aligned with production needs
* Drive lean thinking and operational improvements
* Support initiatives to improve safety, service, and cost control
* Participate in reviews and implement action plans where required
* Maintain a well-organised yard layout and equipment zones
* Apply 5S methodology to ensure efficiency and cleanliness
Skills and Experience Required
* Experience in logistics, yard, or warehouse supervision, preferably in a timber or heavy materials environment
* Sound knowledge of safety standards, manual handling, and yard protocols
* Strong organisational skills with experience managing goods in/out
* Working knowledge of SAP or similar systems
* Ability to lead and develop teams effectively
* Competent in Microsoft Office tools
* Clear communicator with problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Proactive and hands-on approach to yard management
