The Role
Have you a passion for preventing homelessness, alleviating poverty and supporting residents to get back on track with their finances?
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Debt Adviser to join the Welfare Rights & Debt Advice Team and make a meaningful difference to people’s lives, helping us to achieve our ambition of Starting Well, Living Well and Ageing Well in Tameside
Tameside Council has an enviable track record of supporting residents to remain in their homes during periods of financial stress and you could be the person we need to help us continue to achieve this level of success. Working collaboratively with colleagues in both Housing Advice and Welfare Rights you will be part of our Debt Advice team, helping to prevent homelessness for clients in rent and mortgage arrears. You will also be expected to support our wider community, advising on appropriate debt solutions, negotiating with creditors and helping to maximise household incomes.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience of providing debt advice who has a methodical approach to casework, excellent communication skills and is able to effectively manage competing priorities. As you will be assisting vulnerable customers to deal with urgent repossession and eviction proceedings, it is essential that you also have some experience of representing clients at the County Court.
