About the role To meet our growth aspirations, we are currently looking for a full-time Business Development Lead to join our world-class Supportability & ILS (Capability Sustainment) Business Unit, responsible for supporting the MoD directly and the Tier 1 defence primes, as well as major Tier 2 and 3 contractors. Reporting into the Business Development Principal, your primary role will be to feed the Capability Sustainment Business Unit a challenging flow of attractive and winnable opportunities, and in developing the company s offer. You will target areas and opportunities for consolidation, innovation, disruption, and growth, as well as developing business opportunities in adjacent markets. You will also generate draft written material for bid and tender submissions, ensuring they meet both customer specifications and company standards. Responsibilities You will become the primary focal point for the following: Develop CS business in UK defence and security sectors, and adjacent markets to drive a strong future pipeline of work, growing sustainable revenue and profits. Meet or exceed agreed order intake targets, as well as return on business development investment activity. Provide market intelligence, strategic guidance and sales pipelines and forecasts into business planning activities to ensure delivery against key performance metrics. Focussing primarily on new business sales (client, competition and market), balancing near, mid-term and strategic opportunities to maximise overall revenue generation. Reinforce long-term client relationships and work streams, spanning multiple service offerings. Seek and build new client relationships to ensure the business has a diverse and resilient client-base, encouraging enduring engagement to CDS DS. Contribute in supporting the CS Business Unit team, maintaining a detailed overview of project delivery activity and quality, to ensure client expectations are suitably managed and exceeded. Following an agreed strategy, work with the Head of Marketing, Heads of Business Unit and Technical Leads to drive the specification and production of high-quality marketing materials including web-presence and support the development of events and trade shows material & stand. Attend and represent the company at Government sponsored events, industry events and trade shows or professional body events. Skills, Qualifications and Experience As the ideal candidate, you will: Have a proven track record of performing well in a sales role in a consultancy/professional services environment. Have a strong awareness of the following areas: Asset Management Systems & Strategies Availability, Capability & Supportability in a military & security environment. Through-life Support Modelling and Digital Engineering Tools Integrated Product Support (formally Integrated Logistics Support). Technical Information delivery incl. documentation (S1000D, AESP, Books of Reference, Air Publications) Safety and Environment Policies, Processes requirements & legislation. You will also: Have an existing network of customers and influential industry players relevant to our Capabilities, to further influence and expand our existing customer base. Have the personal drive and appetite to grow a successful business further, able to achieve stretch targets and business development goals. Have the clarity of thought and ability to translate information technically and creatively, to formulate value propositions and winning strategies, spotting and developing competitive advantages for the company.
