The Role We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort and well-being of our residents by maintaining the neighbourhood and building in optimal condition. The Person The ideal applicant should ideally have: Experience of working in general building maintenance Plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills. A basis Level of I.T Literacy with web based systems, Microsoft office and Outlook A general knowledge of statutory building compliance desirable, full training will be provided Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compassionate and caring attitude towards our older residents Committed to enhancing residents' well-being and fostering a sense of community. A Basic understand of the building safety act and fire compliance in high rise buildings, however full training will be Given Values aligned with our philosophy as outlined on our website Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities will include: Provide routine general maintenance tasks such as routine weekly, monthly and annual checks inspections and maintenance of the building’s systems, including basic plumbing and electrical Handle minor repairs such as repairing doors, windows, cabinets and furniture Maintenance the Planner preventive maintenance calendar To be able to take the lead on defect reporting Be able to understand and continually update risk assessments along with producing new ones where required Perform painting and maintain the overall appearance of the building Regularly inspect and maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and emergency lighting Conduct weekly fire alarm testing Respond to resident’s requests for repair or maintenance issues promptly and professionally ensuring our SLAs and KPI ‘s are met Communicate effectively with residents to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions Maintain the exterior of the building. Ensure walkways, parking and outdoor areas are safe and accessible Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and inspections Manage external contractors where required Assist with the move ins of new residents Maintaining a clean environment including pressure washing as required Assist with the implementation of safety and emergency preparedness protocols Provide outstanding customer service to residents Undertake any activities that fall under the Health & Safety policies and procedures. Conduct any other relevant tasks as requested by the General Manager to ensure a well-maintained Neighbourhood.
