Parent to Parent aims to support families and young people for as long as they need the service; there is no time limit as long as we are working together to achieve identified outcomes.
Parent to Parent Ltd was established in 1988 as a charity, set up to support families caring for a child with additional needs including learning, physical, sensory, emotional and life limiting. Support is given both one to one and in groups for parents and for children and young people with additional needs. Parental support includes emotional support, help to complete forms, information about local services and benefits, advocacy at meetings, workshops on managing stress and anxiety, tips and techniques to manage challenging behaviour and loss and bereavement support. The support workers also help families in financial difficulties with applications to food banks, grants for holidays and arranging free school holiday activities. The Young Persons team support children identified as having an additional support need within the Additional Support for Learning Scotland Act. The team provide support and advocacy to children and young people during school term times, supporting them to have a voice in matters that affect their lives. Providing support to better understand what is worrying them and to identify solutions to reduce or eliminate that worry.
Job purpose
* To drive the organisation forward and seek opportunities for development
* To lead and manage a team providing support and advocacy to parents/carers of children with complex and additional needs living in Tayside.
* To oversee and monitor the financial position of the organisation
* To promote the parents and young persons voice at a local and national level
* To maintain good relationships with the statutory and voluntary services
Main responsibilities
* To develop the existing partnership with the 3 local authorities and NHS Tayside
* To liaise with other voluntary sector organisations throughout Tayside
* To seek opportunities to represent the organisation at local and national level
* To support Operations Manager with the Family Support teams
* To support the Admin and Finance Officer & Depute Head of Service with finance systems, monitoring and funding applications
* To report to the Board of Directors
Knowledge, training and experience required
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent and a background in health/education/social work/family work
Experience - essential
* Experience of leading a team
* Experience of partnership working
* Experience and evidence of completing funding applications
* Experience of creating, monitoring budgets
* knowledge and experience of HR policies and procedures?
* Experience of writing reports
