Are you an experienced Vet looking for a new challenge? Our hugely successful and established practice in Leicester Fosse Park are seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join their team in a non-client facing graduate mentor role.
Our partners, Sameer and Shabbir, have a number of years' experience between them and are both practical, proactive and very approachable enabling great relationships and fostering opportunities. They now have two fantastic practices just 6 miles apart and at Fosse Park we have a large team consisting of 4 Vets, experienced nursing team including 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Veterinary Care Assistants and 7 Receptionists and a Clinical Practice Manager.
You will be responsible for enabling the business to operate effectively on a day-to-day basis and most importantly will be able to manage, encourage and motivate the veterinary graduate team. You will be effectively managing the graduate vets to enable the delivery of professional animal healthcare services and supporting the Practice Owners.
This is a practice based non-client facing role where you will mentoring our graduate vets, we are looking for a Vet with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in small animals with a strong surgical knowledge preferably with previous VetGDP training and experience developing new graduates.
Your job role will include;
1. To support and report to the JVP with new graduates.
2. Manage and implement HR/SOP policies for each of the Graduate team, to include annual appraisals and development.
3. Spend a minimum of one day per graduate per week mentoring and supporting in both surgery and consults.
4. Develop time management skills for all vets.
5. Complete the allocated time for VetGDP for each Graduate.
6. Solve problems swiftly to ensure they can continue to offer the great service we strive to deliver.
7. Liaise, recruit, train and develop the vet team.
8. Manage the vet rota and authorise annual leave.
9. Assist Practice Owners/PM with clinical dispute complaints.
10. You will work with modern state of the art equipment including modern veterinary equipment for surgery including orthopaedic, soft tissue, digital x-ray, ultrasound, IDEXX blood machines and dental x-ray. Sameer routinely performs Orthopaedic surgery.
Situated within a flag ship Pets a Home store, our practice has a large waiting room area, 6 consult rooms – phones in all, a rainbow bridge room for euthanasias, a large prep area, 2 separate sterile theatres, separate dog, cat, isolation and exotic wards all on the main floor. On the ground floor is another consult room, office area, dental theatre, staff room and large corridor with an additional isolation area and wet room for potential physiotherapy and hydrotherapy use in the future.
The team has excellent diary management. 15-30 mins consults with every 4th slot blocked out for calls and catch up. A prep vet is responsible for the smooth running of theatre cases and work ups handed over from the consulting vets. We can consider full time or a minimum 30 hours a week over 5 days.

Our practice is based on the Grove Farm Triangle on the outskirts of Leicester, with easy access from the M1 and M69.
