Your job:
Here at Virgin Active, we are looking for a Management Accountant to join our experienced finance team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, analytical review and process improvement. With support from the wider Finance team, you will be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as you progress.
Your duties and responsibilities:
1. Month end accruals and prepayments postings across a range of P&L areas including employment costs, rent and other fixed costs, utilities, IT, and licenses;
2. Analytical review of P&L accounts, and presentation of findings to Senior Finance Manager and Financial Controller;
3. Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying risks and undertaking actions based findings;
4. Business partnering with relevant teams across the company;
5. Working with the Accounts Payable and Bank and Cash teams to ensure day-to-day operational finance requirements are met;
6. Assisting with financial audit queries;
7. Creation of annual budgets and review of performance against these throughout the year;
8. Applying knowledge gained through relevant studies to review and improve processes and controls around financial reporting of costs, capital expenditure, and cashflow, and
9. Working on ad hoc projects to support the business (e.g. in relation to cost control and energy consumption).
Your commitment:
You will be based in our Support Office. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have a Hybris Working Policy and would require you to work in our office three days/week,
What we can’t live without:

10. Previous experience within a finance team, or as an auditor
11. Experience of preparing balance sheet reconciliations (not essential)
12. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
13. A thorough approach to work and attention to detail
14. Strong analytical ability
15. Sound proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
16. Currently working towards a professional finance qualification (i.e. ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA)
17. A thorough approach to work with strong attention to detail
18. A proactive attitude and a desire to continuously improve working practices
19. The ability to work independently when required
20. Effective prioritization skills, and the ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to management action
