An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Pediatric Diabetes Team for a Band 6 Pediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse, who is passionate, highly motivated and committed to the Pride Vision of our Trust. This post has a clear focus on improving the diabetes management and self-care of Babies, Children and Young People (BCYP) and to support them and their families in managing the condition from diagnosis to transition to adult services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team which provides diabetes services to children, young people and their families within the hospital and community settings.
The post holder will be a key contributor to the on-going development of diabetes services in line with the Best Practice Tariff, National Service Frameworks, government, and Trust initiatives.
The post holder will work in collaboration with medical and other multi-disciplinary staff to provide a comprehensive service focused on children and young people with diabetes and participate in teaching programmes to parents/carers, children, young people, and the direct staff working in nurseries and schools with this group of children.
The post holder will also deliver training to the wider population on diabetes care.

* Able to demonstrate a high standard of credible and effective clinical skills and an ability to teach these to the nursing team
* Strong leadership skills, able to motivate staff and build effective teams

* Member of external national forums eg RCN children's forums, diabetes network
* Previous experience in Paediatric Diabetes Nursing

* Willingness to achieve education to degree or MSc level within 3 years
